Jim Corbett (1875–1955)
An Anglo-Indian hunter and naturalist, Edward James “Jim” Corbett achieved fame for tracking and killing numerous man-eating tigers and leopards in British India. His bestselling Man-Eaters of Kumaon chronicled these dangerous hunts and helped shape early conservation ideas; the park named in his honor became India’s first wildlife reserve.
